About ten years ago I started to whittle clay blocs and had the project of making a totem out of them. The project has been ongoing and offgoing for a long time. This year I decided to be more proactive as to carving clay. This site has something to do with it as my jaw dropped when I saw this work. Last September at our annual get together I tried with wax crayons (I had clay in mind eventually). And when I got home, I went to the dollar store to get some more crayons but found erasers shaped like crayons. Wooaahh... that was just what I needed and moreover: multiple layered colours. So I got to work and practiced.
Ca fait des lunes que je veux apprendre à sculpter. En fait depuis que je suis jeune: mon grand-père m'avait dit que la sculpture c'était pour les garçons!! Ce qui a redoublé mes ardeurs.
J'ai vu le potentiel de la pâte poly il y a dix ans environ. J'ai commencé à gosser des petits blocs en vue de faire un totem. Par ci par là, j'y ai travaillé, surtout ils étaient dans une boîte à attendre. Récemment j'ai décidé de remettre le tout sur les rails et de reprendre la sculpture/gossage de pâte de façon plus active. En septembre, j'ai commencé à travailler les crayons de cire, largement inspirée par ce site qui qui m'a fait faire demi tour...
Je me suis rendue au magazain de gugusses du coin pour acheter d'autres crayons mais là, il y avait des gommes à effacer en crayon et de plus elles étaient multicolores... Je me suis donc pratiquée un peu.

Such fun. My family, uncles, grandfather etc, were all carpenters. Always playing with wood. looking at your crayons, I can see you working ith a lathe!
